Emma Watson will soon film ‘Perks Of Being A Wallflower’ in Pittsburgh

Recently we posted about the possibility of Emma Watson filming The Perks of Being a Wallflower in Pittsburgh, PA sometime soon, but we weren’t sure exactly when  filming would start, if it happened at all.

At the time, the author of the book on which the movie is based, Stephen Chbosky, had said in a visit to Slippery Rock University that filming would happen and that it would take place in Pittsburgh.

Then, a couple weeks ago, Bridge City Films seemed to confirm his announcement when they tweeted, “Just had a meeting with an agent who said Emma Watson is confirmed for Perks of Being a Wallflower. Starts shooting early 2011 in Pittsburgh.”


But, despite reports that filming will start as soon as this month, Ava Dellaira, Chbosky’s assistant, has said that the movie will definitely shoot in Pittsburgh, but there is no date start date for the film yet. “He says he wouldn’t consider any other location,” she said.

The hold up on an official start date may have to do with Emma’s prior commitments, including Harry Potter re-shoots that are scheduled to take place this week in the U.K.

We’ll keep you updated once a start date is officially announced and the cast arrives in town, it should be an exciting shoot!
