| Sarah Jessica Parker and husband Matthew Broderick look on as son James Wilkie hands over a handwritten note to 'Harry Potter' star Emma Watson. |
- Lorenzo Martone learned a lesson in backstabbing on Monday - and it had nothing to do with ex-boyfriends. The Arc NY Talent PR principal sent an email to his contacts with the subject line: "URGENT — WE GOT RACKED" In the email, the sultry South American explained that a former intern, Trent Axelson, who'd left the company last Friday, had sent out an unauthorized email to a lengthy list of Martone's contacts, asking them to update their information. To make matters worse, the culprit failed to blind-cc the targets of the mass email, meaning recipients' addresses, including those of Diane von Furstenberg and Rachel Roy, were visible to anyone who got the message. Martone guessed that his ex-intern was looking to impress a new boss with his address book, and apologized profusely — in all caps — for the incident. "I'M SO EMBARRASSED," Martone wrote, and promised "FLOWERS, CHOCOLATE, ANYTHING" as reparations for anyone miffed by the mailing — which could get interesting.
- James Franco is taking his studies seriously. For the second time this month, our favorite polymath arrived late to a party he was supposed to host, thanks to a class at Yale University. Franco was about two hours and 40 minutes tardy to the three-hour RxArt 10th-anniversary celebration at the Art Directors Club in Chelsea on Monday night. By the time he arrived, he'd already missed the charity auction and a number of partygoers. Co-host Terry Richardson, who shot Franco in drag for last month's Candy magazine cover, was still on hand, however, and warmly greeted his pal.
- Jennifer Aniston surprised the audience and her co-stars when she made an unbilled appearance at Montblanc's "24 Hour Plays" at the American Airlines Theater. A source tells us Jen's appearance, as a reincarnated canine in the short work "A Bitch Downstairs" with Sam Rockwell and Kyra Sedgwick, was kept hush-hush because she wasn't confirmed to perform until hours before the show. Aniston also attended the post-play party at B.B. King Blues Club, although she wasn't in a very social mood. She declined to take a photo with a fan, saying she was keeping a "low profile." But she did hit the dance floor for about three minutes with Rockwell. Swinging single Jen literally swing-danced with the actor and his wife, Leslie Bibb, then headed back to the couple's table, where Rockwell could be seen stroking Aniston’s hair while waving his credit card to pay for the food tab. Maybe he and Aniston were still in character.
- Litigator Stephen Meister is not one of those lawyers who uses $15 words to convey $4.95 ideas. On Monday, Meister represented Joe Moinian in the developer's Manhattan Supreme Court battle to keep Related Cos. Chairman Steve Ross and Deutsche Bank from foreclosing on his 1775 Broadway office tower. With the Related honcho in the courtroom, Meister told the judge Moinian's building needed a "Ross-ectomy" to cure a situation that he later likened to "cancer." Sounds painful.
