Lady Gaga may be taking Madonna mimicry a bit far as rumors swirl that she's dropping by Hamptons

If rumors are true, Hamptons residents may have to grow accustomed to seeing a decked out Lady Gaga often.

Is Sagaponack destined to become Sa-Gaga-ponack?

As speculation builds that, in yet another example of Madonna mimicry, Lady Gaga is house- hunting in the Hamptons. East End real-estate insiders say the pop diva's handlers have shown interest in a $26 million, eight-bedroom, eight-bathroom English Country-style estate on Parsonage Lane in Sagaponack that sits on 7.5 acres.

The property, built this year by Michael Davis, includes a 9,353- square-foot, shingle-style main residence, a 1,483-square-foot carriage house and a 1,379-square-foot recreational pavilion. Amenities include media and wine rooms, a sauna, gym, pool and sunken tennis court. A restored 18th-century barn also sits on the lot, which abuts reserved farm fields that would provide additional seclusion for the
"Paparazzi"-plagued star.

Not surprisingly, the broker representing the property, Enzo Morabito at Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate, declined to comment. Gaga's spokeswoman, Amanda Silverman, called reports of her client's Hamptons house-hunting "untrue."

That includes speculation that Gaga has rented a beach house in Amagansett to serve as a personal decompression chamber until she finds a home she deems a keeper.

Given Gaga's unabashed Madonna love - "I guess I could say we are friends," she reportedly said last year - the odds seem to favor the "Alejandro" singer settling into a neighborhood closer to the Material Girl's stamping grounds, and, in that case, Sagaponack makes sense.

(By the way, Amagansett happens to be the domain of Jerry Seinfeld, who recently called Gaga a "jerk" after she flipped the bird at Mets fans at Citifield and was inexplicably escorted to his private box to sit out the uproar.)

In February, Her Madgesty purchased the Wild Ocean Farm in Bridgehampton, reportedly for her equestrian pursuits, as well as the agricultural rights to 24 adjacent acres for a combined price of $7.2 million. Madonna has also rented a 1920s house on Lily Pond Lane. Like the
mansion that Gaga is said to be looking out, it is an English Country-style home.

That begs the question, if Lady Gaga does land in the Hamptons, who will be more annoyed: Madonna, who, no matter how flattered she says she is by the upstart Gaga has got to be feeling a bit like Bette Davis in "All About Eve" these days, or longtime residents who will have to put up with twice as much rubbernecking.

Our money's on Madge.
