The former reality TV star that seems to be flying under the radar as of late looked happy to be out as she and her beau made their way through a crowd of gawking onlookers.

As for the absence from the public spotlight, perhaps Ms Conrad has been busy working on her first style book - which is rumored to be published next fall.

Of the book, Lauren says, “I think fashion should be fun and reflective of who you are. When you wear clothes you feel good in, it shows in everything you do. I know this guide will offer simple, practical tips to help anyone look fabulous.”

Lauren's going to be busy doing the promotional rounds, and boy does she have a lot to promote! Between her new reality show, her new book and designing for Kohl's, Lauren has her plate full right now.

She's featured on the new cover of Women's Health magazine where she talks about post-TV life, she spills the beans about her many new projects and how she squeezes in staying in shape. Here are some highlights...

On her post-TV life:

“A lot of the craziness is over. It’s the calm after the storm.”

On balancing her hectic lifestyle:

“When you are working really hard and you’re really focused on your career, a lot of other things suffer. It takes a lot of effort to have a successful career, have great relationships in your life and have a healthy lifestyle. It’s just about compromise.”

On staying grounded:

“One way to stay grounded in the entertainment industry is to surround yourself with very good people that will constantly remind you how uncool you are. It helps that I have an amazing family and I have really great friends that I’ve had since I was a little kid and they’re all still around me, reminding me how lame I am.”

On producing:

“You know, the next thing I’m probably going to do is getting into producing. For me it’s more about finding the time that I really have to dedicate to the beginning stages because I want the first project I do to be something really special.”

On her other upcoming projects:

“Right now, I’m working on putting together my next book series; working on the Kohl’s line…which has taken up a lot of time and has been really, really fun to do.”

On her success as a writer:

“A little bizarre but really cool.”

On taking on a dozen different projects and squeezing in workouts with her beau:

“It helps if your friends and boyfriend like to work out because then you can kill two birds with one stone.”

On her kickboxing sessions:

“Any way to make a workout feel like playtime is great. The stress just melts away.”

Five Things LC Won't Miss About The Hills

Lauren Conrad left a lot of friends, fans and memories behind on The Hills, but not everything about saying g'bye to the show was bittersweet. As we told you last week, LC's departure meant the end of the Granny Panties era (apparently, she needed thicker, sturdier undies to support the mics!). And according to Harper's Bazaar, the minor indignities didn't end there. Below, five more things LC says she won't miss about reality TV (via Usmagazine.com).

1. Having her men pre-approved. Ever had trouble finding a date for Saturday night? How about finding a dude willing to do the first date thing on film? According to LC, getting a guy to "sign a release form" is even less fun than it sounds. Case in point, her current boyfriend: the perennially camera-shy Kyle Howard.

2. No spontaneous vacays. Much like the men in her life, all of LC's trips had to be run by Hills production. "I couldn't take a vacation without clearing it months and months ahead of time," LC recalls. On the plus side, think of all the boring family commitments that excuse got her out of!!

3. Home decor "help." Before any major repainting projects, LC would consult with a director of photography to make sure her new color palette meshed with the set lighting.

4. RSVPing "No" To Diddy's White Party. Forget the Clorox Bleach. LC claims she had to forgo whites and prints for years because "they don't look good on film." Lucky for her, she looks amazing in solids!

5. Party planning in twos. Needless to say, not all of LC's peeps were cool with chatting it up on camera. So she was forced to become an (involuntary) birthdayzilla! "I had to have separate birthday parties for my filming and non-filming friends," she admits.

K-Cav's Dating Rules: Impress Me In Two Minutes, Or I'm Gone

Lauren Conrad wasn't comfortable showing off her boy Kyle Howard on The Hills, but single gal Kristin Cavallari promises she'll be dating up a storm when the show returns. And while she denies shacking up with Audrina Patridge's ex ("I'm not dating Justin Bobby!" she proclaimed earlier this week), K-Cav sez she totally believes in lust at first sight.

"I can tell within the first two minutes if I'm into someone or not," Cavallari told the New York Post yesterday. "I can always tell if I get butterflies. The first thing I notice about a guy is his face, but once he opens his mouth and talks it can all change."

Oh, and if you ever do find yourself on a date with the lippy Laguna girl, do NOT try and win her over with those lame-o pet names, like "Shmoopie." ("That is super cheesy," scoffed K-Cav. "I've [never] had one and I don't think I ever want one.")

While Kristin's not ready to dish on her personal life (you'll have to wait and see it unfold on The Hills!), she had lots to say about her other big love: acting. "I can't wait for people to see this movie and take me seriously as an actress," Cavallari said of her new flick, Van Wilder: Freshman Year.

Don't worry, Kristin, we're fully aware that if there's anyone out there who knows how to bring the drama, it's you.

Lauren Conrad & Audrina Patridge: Short, but sweet

For a time, when Lauren had just lost Heidi as one of her best friends, along came Audrina to save the day. As Audrina moved in with Lauren, the two started to hit it off. In spite of Lauren's growing troubles, Audrina was there to take Lauren through it. L&A formed a bond, and an appeal that no one could ever match. From club appearances, to working out, to doing scenes on The Hills together, or just hanging out, L&A even made the sun shine at night. L&A's togetherness alone illuminated the world, let alone a TV screen, or even a room. Lauren and Audrina played so well together, that the two would remind fans of a teddy bear collection that people just had to have, which were so cuddly, and so cute. For MTV, this was pure heaven, The Hills in Season 3 became the highest rated show on MTV ever, with over 4 million viewers. But as 2007 ended, and all of last year and this year, the bond that Lauren and Audrina once formed was no more. In all that time, Lauren's insecurities got in the way, while Audrina's hunger for fame became more present. To make matters worse, Lo and Stephanie got more face time, Lauren was lured by Lo and Stephanie, and Audrina felt compelled to get more attention since Audrina felt Lauren wasn't giving it to her. Even if it meant trying to claim that Lauren hooked up with Audrina's boyfriend, Justin-Bobby. While Lauren and Audrina deteriorated, so did the ratings of The Hills. It went from 4.5 million, to 2 million viewers. Now, the end result is Lauren and Audrina have no friendship whatsoever, when the cameras stop rolling. As Lauren Conrad now focuses on her future and Kyle Howard, and Audrina Patridge moves on to her own reality venture, we can only hope that Lauren and Audrina will cross paths again one day to pick up where they left off. Maybe one day Lauren can let Audrina help her as a person, and Audrina can be truthful about Lauren's flaws instead of rattling to other people about it, and these two can once again be an awesome two-some. And walk hand and hand in the garden of happiness, so their friendship can blossom, and share their differences and similarities, and have more things in common than just The Hills.

Lauren Conrad examiner reveals why fans hate Kyle Howard

For about a year, Kyle Howard has become the leading man in Lauren Conrad's life. As such, it started out as just friends, but it blossomed into a full-fledge relationship. And in that time, Lauren has made some drastic decisions. One was leaving The Hills not only to lead a private life, but to focus more on fashion, writing books, and other entertainment opportunities. And another big reason was to devote more time to Kyle Howard. But fans, and this reporter see it totally differently, and wonder if the My Boys star is becoming a hinderance to Lauren Conrad, and her future plans. For instance, it's reported that Lauren got furious last Thursday night when actor Ryan Gosling hit on her, so she went to Kyle for support. From there, it is said that Kyle got revved up by friends, and wanted to go after Ryan Gosling. It seems that this news refuses to go away, and it's making Lauren look bad, making her out to be a whiner, and Kyle as just another boyfriend who gets jealous of his girl. But then again, fans wonder if Kyle Howard should even be in Lauren Conrad's life. This is the man who single-handedly pulled Lauren away from The Hills, which was a very lucrative venture for Ms. Conrad. Even though The Hills was going South, there still could've been a recovery while Lauren Conrad was still on board. If Kyle Howard is dating someone like LC, then it should be in Kyle's best interest to support his girlfriend while she works on a show that's proven to be difficult already. It would've helped if Kyle sacrificed his small profile to helped Lauren out, and it could've given Kyle an opportunity to defend Lauren Conrad whenever troubles came along from Heidi, Spencer, Audrina, etc. As a matter of fact, Kyle Howard would've benefitted from being on The Hills not only career-wise, but Kyle would have been seen as someone you can rely on whenever you're in trouble, someone that no one can mess with. But instead, Kyle Howard is kept away from The Hills by either Lauren, his contract on My Boys, or his own personal feelings. And many of Lauren Conrad's guy fans are left to fend for themselves, and they've only got their fantasies, dreams, and memories of LC to rely on, so guy fans don't go insane at the thought of Lauren not being on The HillsThe Hills, and her creditability as a celebrity/ professional. In the end, Lauren Conrad loses out with Kyle Howard, by not supporting her the way he should. It's bad enough Lauren's got some bad press for the last two years of The Hills alone, she doesn't need the oppression of her boyfriend to make matters worse and destroy what she's worked so hard to build. So in all good criticism, it's time for Lauren Conrad to bid good-bye to Kyle Howard so she can find someone who will be there for her all the way. And it will give LC time to enjoy her fame outside The Hills next season. For gals, a role model for them is now void in their lives, who will these girls look up to that's as relatable as Lauren Conrad? From many theories LC fans may have, it looks like Kyle Howard gets stressed at the thought of Lauren Conrad's fame alone; so Kyle may feel like any other boyfriend to talk Lauren out of continuing with her hit show, and spend more time with him, and work on her fashion career, so forth. But at the same time, Lauren Conrad is sacrificing her dreams and desires to make Kyle Howard happy, and Kyle is not giving 100% by acting like a typical jealous boyfriend who may get heated when someone else goes for Lauren. As for Lauren, all she gets is humiliated, which forces the media and important people she deals with to question her motives for really leaving as a single, independent woman, putting her best foot forward in fashion, entertainment, and writing books. Plus, Lauren's fans will appreciate her new-found freedom and enjoy her a little bit longer. Lauren Conrad needs to take on the methods of Michael Jackson; don't let anyone else create your destiny, go on your own path. And from there, Lauren Conrad will be incredibly successful, in her own right.

Lauren Conrad: ‘Reality TV and Relationships Don’t Mix’

Lauren Conrad has revealed how she’s been so lucky in love — she keeps her man away from the limelight.

The 23-year-old has quit hit show The Hills to be an author and fashionista and she’s also head-over-heels in love with 31-year-old TV actor Kyle Howard.

“People ask me how we make it work and for me the trick was to keep that side of my life private, even when I was being followed by cameras all the time on The Hills,” explained Lauren. “I don’t think that reality television and relationships mix.

“You have to keep that part private because otherwise it just doesn’t work and that is why we are still together.”

Lauren says she has no intention of returning to her reality TV roots. “It was hard,” she says. “There were days when I had a camera on me from when I got up until 3am the next day. I don’t miss that.”

Now that Lauren Conrad's done her book tour, and doesn't plan on doing any filming for The Hills in the near future, Lauren's taking some well-deserved time off and just enjoying life. So far, Lauren's spending more time with her boyfriend Kyle Howard. Whether it's a pool party, or going to the club, the former MTV starlet's determined to spend more time with her boyfriend than ever before.

Lauren loves not having cameras follow her every move, or have producers plan her days out for her. The only thing Lauren has to contend with now is the paparazzi, still getting priceless pictures of her. Also off-camera, Lauren's working on the first-draft for the second installment of her new LA Candy teen novel, and working on developing it into a TV series. As far as fashion goes, Lauren Conrad is getting ready to launch her new line at Kohl's, coming in October. Along with Kohl's, Lauren desires to resurrect her original Lauren Conrad Collection.

Lauren Conrad Says Ryan Gosling Hit On Her

Lauren Conrad and boyfriend Kyle Howard were whipping themselves into a frenzy Thursday night at Deluxe, where we just happened to be an earwitness.

Lauren claims that Ryan Gosling tried to hit on her and she told Kyle, "Who does he think he is? I'm with you. I would never..." At that point we couldn't stop listening and Kyle said: "I know baby, if I was there I would have set him straight."

But sadly, that wasn't the end of it. Kyle then started chatting with a friend and suddenly there was testosterone in the air, and a lot of it. "Let's go find Ryan Gosling. Let's beat him up," one of them said. And yes, it was funny that they kept calling him "Ryan Gosling" instead of just Ryan.

Of course we have no idea if Ryan Gosling did hit on Lauren, we only know what we heard. And there are many who would say if he did hit on her she should be flattered!
