Heidi Montag Fights Back With 'Superficial'

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt certainly aren't afraid to defend their reputations. In Heidi's new single, "Superficial," off her forthcoming release of the same name, the "Hills" star, with the support of her husband, says people's image of her is way off.

Heidi, who, along with Spencer, is celebrating the finale of another "Hills" season this week, explained that the song is another big step in her pop-music career. "I have my album coming out January 12 ... which I've been working on for three years. ... [I worked with producer] Steve Morales, who did a lot of J.Lo, Celine Dion, Britney Spears. He's done everybody," she told MTV News. "This song is about how everybody just calls me superficial and says that I'm a bitch and only about fashion and everything, and they don't know."

The singer added that just because she appears to be a certain way doesn't mean you know her. "That's what it's about — [appearing] superficial and how everyone calls me that," she explained. "So it's like, 'All right, you can call me that and I'll claim it, but you don't know me or anything about me. And you've only seen two minutes of me on "The Hills" for years.' "

In addition to prepping the album, Heidi is also amping up for her next TV appearance. She's in talks to perform at the World Cup next year. "I just performed at Miss Universe, which was over a billion eyes, a world record for the highest-rated television show for the history of the world," she said. "And now they're considering me and wanting me to do the World Cup, so that's what I've been doing. I'm gonna make a custom track."

SNEAK PEEK: Heidi Montag's Album Cover

Following a performance at this summer's Miss Universe pageant, Heidi Montag will take the leap into the recording world – and she's perfectly aware of what the business is about. (Hint: her debut album is titled SUPERFICIAL).

With the album due out Jan. 12, Montag is ready for whatever whirlwind comes her way.

"This cover is a shout out to the '80s," Montag tells PEOPLE. "It makes you remember when you just had to run out to the record store and get your favorite album. You dreamt of those tapes."

Liz Ciganovich, the album's production and art director, said she got the idea for an '80s tribute after seeing Montag's Overdosin' video.

"It reminded me of Olivia Newton John's Let's Get Physical in the '80s," said Ciganovich. "I thought, 'Let's do a shot that says '80s – lets pay homage to the mix tape!' The hunt was on. I believe I purchased every mixed tape in Los Angeles!"

The unfortunate situation being experienced by Mexico for the escalating violence that has left nearly four years 30.00 thousand deaths, all attributed by organized crime, led to the current Miss Universe Jimena Navarrete believes that the fight against drug trafficking must continue nevertheless, for the good of Mexico.

People who are in government are human and make mistakes but are doing their job, "she told reporters during his time in Cancun, Mexico.

"We have no choice but to continue fighting against drug trafficking," she said.

She recalled that when she won the crown the first person she had contact was with Mexican President Felipe Calderon, who asked: "Keep a good message to the world on Mexico, I will do. We will seek to improve the image of our country that everybody knows that Mexico is a beautiful country, which may come to visit. "

Heidi, We've Got Your Back!

Okay, folks. We've only got 20 days until the Miss Universe Pageant, but I think that's enough time to help newlywed Heidi Montag Pratt. As you all know, she'll be belting out her latest song at the pageant on Aug. 23, but there's an elephant in the room that could stand in front of her success: She can't sing (as evidenced here and here)! As an avid fan of The Hills, I do not want to see my favorite bimbo blonde bombshell crash and burn as she tries to pursues other opportunities. And since Heidi's skills as an entertainer lie more in the realm of reality TV villain than songstress, I've decided to give her some words of wisdom to prepare for her big day.

• No matter how challenging the performance may be: don't quit! While ditching the show, then returning, then ditching the show again didn't get you stoned on I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, the producers of the pageant may not be as forgiving.
• Get the dance moves down before the show. Stumbling through them, a la Britney Spears at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards, won't push your new career in the right direction.
• Don't be afraid to employ the help of a reputable stylist to help you look the part of a music star, even if your voice suggests otherwise. I know you'd prefer to wear pieces from your clothing line Heidiwood, but fashion doesn't seem to be your calling.
• It's best if you learn the words before cameras start rolling, but should you forget, take a page from Jessica Simpson's book and smoothly yell "Ooops" and tell the audience how embarrassed you are. Hopefully, they'll have some sympathy.
• Beware of lip syncing. If it can hurt Kanye West, Madonna and even Milli Vanilli, it can't do much good for you.

Heidi: Not Nude In Playboy, Says Holly

In just a few short weeks, Heidi Montag's Playboy issue will be hitting newsstands. And her sister and occasional Hills co-star Holly confirmed earlier reports that Heidi isn't baring all for the mag.

"She's not nude," Holly told UsMagazine.com. "Her Maxim cover was so gorgeous and tasteful, and I know Playboy is going to be the same. It's really cool that she can be part of the Playboy family. I love it. I go up there all the time and play poker. I love the girls there, and it's very cool to be a part of that legacy."

She also has faith that Heidi will give a great performance at the 2009 Miss Universe Pageant telecast next month.

"She will kill it," Holly said. "I know she will give the best performance ever. She's a phenomenal performer and dancer. That's what she's born to do. I think when she's stepping into her own in singing and concerts, people will see that that's where she really shines."

Heidi Pratt: Singing at the Miss Universe Pageant

Continuing to line up all forms of work, Heidi Pratt will be among the performers during the 2009 Miss Universe Pageant.

To be telecast next month, the Hills hottie will reportedly be singing “Turn Ya Head” from her upcoming album.

According to Access Hollywood, other stars taking the stage Claudia Jordan, Flo Rida, Kelly Rowland and David Guetta.

As for Miss Montag, her brand new studio album, Unleashed, is scheduled to be released on September 23.

Heidi Montag's Big Performance

Spencer was the one who "broke the news" on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show saying, "What if my beautiful pop star was performing on August 21st on Miss Universe?" There has yet to be an official affirmation by the Miss Universe Organization and their website - as of today - still says "Coming Soon" under the performers tab.
