Whitney's Blog: Arts & Crafts with Ash :)

Hi guys!
Over the weekend my sister Ashley came over to work on her birthday invitations. She and her husband's birthdays are only three days apart so this year for their combined 60th birthday (Ash is turning 28, Evan is turning 32) hahaha, they are planning a Scavenger hunt. I was her right hand man and addressed all the envelopes. I mean what's better than homemade invitations these days!? I am so excited for the party. I already chose my scavenger hunt partner! My family is splitting up into teams of two and already we are all getting soooo competitive! Paige and I better win! In a few weeks after the party I will post some pics and tell you how we did!

Whitney Port: Pedicure Princess

Treating herself to a pampering session, Whitney Port was spotted leaving a nail salon in Los Angeles following a pedicure appointment yesterday (December 29).

The “City” chick looked cute and casual as she strolled past the paparazzi, sporting a white cardigan with distressed jeans and flip flops.

While Whitney has been enjoying some time in SoCal her ex-boyfriend Jay Lyon has been getting plenty of attention from the ladies in Australia.

Lyon was spotted helping model Cheyenne Tozzi celebrate her 21st birthday at Kit & Kaboodle in Kings Cross, Australia yesterday afternoon.

Whitney Port's Blog: Christmas Pics :)

Hey dearies!
I hope those who celebrate had a wonderful Christmas filled with lots of love! Although my family is Jewish we use the holiday as a time to get everyone together. This year we started a new tradition and had Fajita Fiesta night at my house. It was so nice to have my whole family and my brother in law's family together! A few of my friends came for dinner and dessert. What did you all do for Christmas?

Whitney's Blog: Port Kids' Night Out

Hi guys!
I am back in LA now for the holidays and was so excited when I got off the plane to feel the warm air! I could not believe that it was a 50 degree difference between the coasts! I even got to wear shorts on Saturday!!! The Port kids had a night on the town and Paigey, as always, was sure to document it all... until her camera died! Bad planning Paigey! Here are a few pics of me, Paigey, Ash, Ev, and Ryan!

Whitney Port: Loving the West Coast Weather

Venturing out for an afternoon pampering session, Whitney Port was spotted making her way around Los Angeles, California on Saturday (December 19).

Wearing a sexy, black sheer top with short-shorts, the MTV reality vixen headed into a local beauty spot where she sat down for a relaxing manicure session.

Later on in the evening, Miss Port was sure to fit in a little quality family time, tweeting, “Best night with my family...I missed paigey, ash, ry, and ev too much.”

The west coast sighting comes just after Whitney flew in town from NYC, telling of the dramatic temperature difference, “Can’t believe the 50 degree difference the coasts. I’m in heavennn!”

Whitney Dishes on NYC Style, Her Line, & More

After the successful Bryant Park debut of her fashion label Whitney Eve in September, The City star Whitney Port is busy delivering the Spring collection to retailers, but still found time to chat with WWD about the challenges she faces as a young designer. “Obviously, it’s scary,” she said. “I think it’s really hard to break out right now since the fashion industry is struggling. I mean, people don’t want to spend their money on clothes right now–it’s a luxury … I think my biggest competition is myself.” The 24 year-old is quick to distinguish herself from her former MTV castmates: “I put myself in a different sort of realm as them,” referring to Hills star Heidi Montag, whose line, Heidiwood, closed just months after its debut, and Lauren Conrad, who designs for Kohl’s after her high-priced line was also unsuccessful. The ambitious New York transplant, who says her new hometown is “a lot more sophisticated and a lot more forward-thinking” than L.A., is even toying with venturing into accessories: “I would love to but I don’t know how talented I’d be at it,” she said. “But eventually, I think that would be a cool option.”

Whitney's Blog: TGIF

I am soooo excited to go home and be with my family and friends for the holidays. I am so appreciative for everything in my life but it is really hard when my entire family is across the country.

In a moment of loneliness I started looking through my iPhoto and found these cute pictures from my family vacation this summer! My siblings and I always joke and say that my parents tend to match. After being married for so many years, I guess they now think alike. Well in this case it turned out that the ENTIRE family dressed like twins!!! Grey was the color of the night, haha!
Here are some pics of me with Ash, Paigey, Jadey, Evan (Ashley's hubby), and my mom and dad!

Whitney Admits She Has Doubts As A Designer

Don't let the Christian Sirianos of the world fool you. Becoming the next big designer doesn't happen overnight, and it certainly doesn't happen to every girl/guy with a sewing machine and a dream. Fortunately, things are looking promising for Whitney Port, who turned her preliminary sketches into a full-fledged collection (Whitney Eve) on The City and is gearing up to see her spring 2010 line hit stores at the end of January.

Yesterday, the stylish City star spoke with WWD.com about the dual pressures of making it in the industry -- and following in the footsteps of former costars (and fellow fashionistas) Heidi Pratt and Lauren Conrad. And while Whit waved off comparisons to her girlfriends (they're all designers, but that's about it!), she admitted to feeling the pressures of the economic downturn.

"Obviously, it's scary," Whitney confessed. "I think it's really hard to break out [as a designer] right now since the fashion industry is struggling. I mean, people don't want to spend their money on clothes right now -- it's a luxury."

So how does she cope with her fears? By forgetting about all the scary statistics -- and putting her energy towards creating clothes that reflect her personal style.

"You're always worried about people not understanding your point of view, not being able to get it. But I think my biggest competition is myself."

Whitney Port Interview From Tacori Event

Whitney Port has transitioned from the Hollywood Hills to the New York City fashion scene seamlessly, and all eyes were on the star of MTV's "The City" at last night's TACORI event.

Port, along with Paul Tacorian of the luxe jewelry brand, hosted the TACORI 18k925 collection launch at Michael C. Fina's Fifth Avenue boutique in New York City.

The new 18k925 Collection consists of timeless and glamorous pieces with a young and modern twist. The jewelry is bold, fun, wearable and pretty affordable with prices ranging from $300 to $3,000.

Clad in an ultra-mini halter dress by Jill Stuart which highlighted her famously long legs, Port accessorized with two rings, a necklace and pear-shaped rose amethyst earrings from the new collection.

Amidst mingling, Whit took a moment to talk to us about jewelry and her guilty pleasure.

StyleList: How did you become involved with TACORI?
Whitney Port: I love TACORI. I love their vintage, antique aesthetic.

SL: Which are your favorite pieces?
WP: I love all the turquoise... Aquamarine is my birthstone so I really love those pieces. The bright colors of the collection are great, especially for the holidays.

[Whit also revealed: "I love TACORI's new 18k925 Collection and it's great that the pieces are so affordable! I love this pink mother-of-pearl ring -- it can dress up any outfit!"]

SL: What is your favorite Holiday goodie?
WP: Peanut brittle.

Whitney Port: SNL Party Girl

Always up for a night on the town, Whitney Port was among the stars turning up for the “Saturday Night Live” afterparty in Downtown, Manhattan on Saturday (December 5).

Joined by a gal pal, the MTV reality star meandered over to Abe & Arthur’s Restaurant in the Meatpacking District - joining in on the fun-filled fete which also brought out Rihanna and Blake Lively.

In related news, Miss Port recently chatted about the second season of her show “The City,” which saw the finale air this past week.

She tells, “I think I had a couple best moments. I think our most fun moments were just Roxy and I goofing off, like the cake fight and the dancing to Beyoncé. I think that when we were really ourselves, that’s the most fun for us.”

Continuing on, Whitney adds, “I think my lowest point was probably in the finale. I think it was really tough, obviously, to show my first collection ever to Bergdorf’s, and I got a bunch of criticism. Whether it was constructive or not, it was hard for me to take, because those clothes are my babies, basically. So it was hard, but I think with all these experiences, it’s all about learning and taking the positive from it.”
