The pair of sweethearts historical Blake Lively and Penn Badgley was dissolved. No, it has not happened for the umpteenth time in an episode of "Gossip Girl" series in which both players are, but in real life. And this time it seems to be something definitive.

Blake and Penn have in fact left after an affair lasting three years, according to a report in U.S. Weekly the break had already occurred in mid-September, but the news was made public only now. It seems however that the two have remained good friends, in a manner similar to what happens in the TV series.

The news was temporarily put to rest, since the two actors were involved in the promotion of their latest films, both American box office hits: the thriller "The Town" with Ben Affleck for Blake and the comedy "Easy A" for Penn .

No coincidence that lively was recently spotted out and about dell’affascinante alongside Ryan Gosling, stars of the movie "The Notebook" and "The case of Thomas Crawford," and now one of the principal actors in the rise of Hollywood. What could be the cause behind him his break with his (now ex) boy gossip?

A rep for the CW stars told press that the romance came to a halt back in September, though they tried to keep it quiet.

An inside source explained, “They’re professionals. They’re still good friends and hang out on the set. They kept this news to themselves for awhile.”

Blake and Penn’s “Gossip Girl” costars supposedly didn’t know either. "Nobody on set had any idea. They're really just private."
