Kristin Cavallari Doesn't Care About The Hills

Making the rounds promoting her straight-to-DVD movie Van Wilder: Freshman Year and reminding everyone that she will be on this fall's season of The Hills, Kristin Cavallari wants everyone to know she doesn't really care about the latter.

Despite having begun her reality TV career in 2004 on Laguna Beach, Kristin hates watching herself on TV, and aspires to be a successful, versatile film actress.

"I want to do movies that are #1 at the box office and also indie ones that are dark and miserable," she said. "I see myself with a career like Cameron Diaz."

Don't hold your breath for that. Kristin Cavallari does admit that going back to being a reality star is not exactly a step in the right direction. Contrarily ...

"I haven't been able to audition for anything since, contractually, MTV won't let me. But I'll tell you this - I've gotten more phone calls about going on other shows since. ... But doing The Hills has made me want to act so badly."

"I need a challenge and kinda feel like The Hills is taking me a step backwards. But that just makes me want to act that much more and try that much harder."

"It was a really hard choice for me. MTV's been asking me to do it for years. I want to be an actress 100 percent, but with Van Wilder: Freshman Year coming out, I thought this would be an exciting way for my fans to reconnect with me."

"They haven't seen what I've been up to since Laguna Beach. I thought it would help and, after all, this is what made me famous in the first place."

There's a fat paycheck in it for her too, of course. Who can complain getting $60,000-plus per episode to read cue cards and booze it up at clubs?

At least she's got her priorities in line. We already miss Lauren Conrad, but look forward to seeing all the staged drama Kristin brings to the table.

Krsitin Cavallari: Not One, But Two Hills Seasons

Kristin Cavallari is so the new Lauren Conrad of The Hills.

How else do you explain Cavallari getting a two-season deal on MTV's hit pseudo-reality show?

That's right. Cavallari, 22, told us yesterday she'll be around a lot longer than the 10 episodes that were originally announced.

"I'm signed for two seasons," she said while promoting her new DVD flick Van Wilder Freshman Year at the Jack LaLanne juicer-sponsored Silver Spoon House in Malibu. "We'll see how it goes, but that's probably all I'll really want to do."

But it's not like Cavallari wants to be Conrad 2.0…

Cavallari said she has no plans to try to knock Conrad's young adult novel L.A. Candy off the New York Times best-seller list. "It hasn't even crossed my mind, she said when asked if she has similar literary aspirations. "So I don't think so."

Meanwhile, Cavallari also revealed that she put on a little too much weight while filming Van Wilder. "I had been in Atlanta for two months, eating fast food and whatever the hell I wanted," she explained. "I completely let myself go."

For a lingerie scene, she begged the filmmakers to let her wear a corset. "They wouldn't let me," she said. "They ended up having to cut the scene down a lot. Not kidding. It's a lot shorter than it was supposed to be. I was definitely 10 pounds heavier."

Kristin Cavallari: Photo Shooting in Malibu

She’s definitely comfortable in front of the camera, and yesterday (July 14) Kristin Cavallari was spotted striking a few poses for a photo shoot in Malibu.

The “Hills” hottie looked lovely as she worked it at the Silver Spoon beach house in a black sundress with long flowing blonde locks.

In between sessions, Miss Cavallari chatted away incessantly on her BlackBerry mobile phone, making funny faces throughout the conversation.

And Kristin recently revealed that though she loves her job, she hates to watch herself onscreen. “I hate it! I hate watching myself on screen! I absolutely hate it, it’s so hard to watch. I can see myself in magazines, but watching on TV or movies is like ‘ugh.’”

..she was also doing some absolutely shameless self-promoting for her new film, Van Wilder: Freshman Year.

Kristin Cavallari Compares 'The Hills' To Filming A Movie

Kristin Cavallari doesn't care what you think about her. For years, she made trouble and brought the drama as the resident mean girl of Laguna Beach, and she was Lauren Conrad's foe long before Speidi came into the picture.

Now she's ready to come back to reality television and in an interesting turn of events, she will take Lauren Conrad's place on The Hills. So while LC is busy being a best-selling author, Cavallari will be stirring the pot with the remaining cast of the show. And if you think now that she's an actress she'll be acting on the show, think again.

"It's not [scripted]," she told MTV News about the longstanding rumors that the show is not as real as it seems. "Everyone's going to have an opinion," the Van Wilder: Freshman Year star added. "And everyone's going to think what they want. You can't really change that."

Cavallari is quick to point out that life on set is completely different than life in the real world with cameras filming your every move. "It's definitely different," she said. "I love being on set and being in a movie. I think it's so much fun. And The Hills or Laguna Beach, it's more like hanging out with people you know rather than acting and memorizing lines and stuff."

Kristin Cavallari Heads To College For ‘Van Wilder: Freshman Year’

She may be heading for The Hills, but before she does that Kristin Cavallari will be getting some higher education for the direct-to-video movie, Van Wilder: Freshman Year.

The original - starring Ryan Reynolds and Tara Reid - was a surprise hit when it premiered back in 2002, and since then we’ve seen a steady stream of sequels.
