InTouch Weekly reported that Mel Gibson and Britney Spears have been spending a lot of time talking to each other over the phone regarding Gibson's domestic violence charges.

A friend of Spears said, "Mel has been talking to her a lot. They speak on the phone all the time, usually late at night."

A couple of years ago, Gibson was one of the only people who personally supported Spears during her heavily publicized emotional breakdown, and even flew her out to Costa Rica to give her a break. Now she's returning the favor.

The same source told InTouch, "Mel was one of the only people who reached out to help Britney when she was at her lowest point, and she believes that demonstrates what a loving and wonderful man he is."

Ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva's most recent claim is that Gibson said he wanted "Jew blood" on his hands in reference to a Jewish man who allegedly humiliated Gibson.

As the rest of Gibson's shocking case continues to unfold, he'll need all the support he can get.
