Rihanna is all set to conquer the silver screen. The ‘Umbrella’ singer has just signed up to take a lead role in the big screen adaptation of the Hasbro board game inspired “Battleship.” The 22-year-old will be starring with two certified Hollywood hunks in the form of “True Blood’s” Alexander Skarsgard and “Friday Night Light’s” Taylor Kitsch.
The story will center around Taylor who will play a naval officer and Alexander, who will be playing his brother, who are on a quest for the planet’s survival. Rihanna is pegged to play as love interest of one of the brothers.
Peter Berg, who is known for directing films such as “Friday Night Lights” and “Hancock,” is set to direct the movie. “Battleship” will be shown in theaters on May 25, 2012.
Collaboration with Eminem
For those tuning in to the airwaves, Rihanna fans are all abuzz about her hit duet with “8-Mile’s” controversial son, Eminem. “Love the Way You Lie” is the single where Rihanna and Marshall Mathers express their thoughts on an unhealthy but addictive love affair. As part of Eminem’s follow up album to “Relapse,” this new album aptly entitled “Recover” is steadily climbing the billboard charts.

Eminem’s seventh major label studio album also boasts of the hit track “Not Afraid.” It tells a story of how he handles all the criticism of Emimen’s last album. Recovery has 16 tracks (with 1 hidden track) and compared to his past works, this one suggests maturity as Eminem’s rhymes are better than ever as he also deals with his own recovery.
“I had originally planned for ‘Relapse 2’ to come out last year,” remarked Eminem. “But as I kept recording and working with new producers, the idea of a sequel to ‘Relapse’ started to make less and less sense to me, and I wanted to make a completely new album. The music on ‘Recovery’ came out very different from ‘Relapse,’ and I think it deserves its own title.”
Other than Rihanna’s special participation, the album also features guest appearances by Lil Wayne (“No Love”) and P!NK (“Won’t Back Down”).
